SUMMARY:Rural Emergency Advanced Clinical Training (REACT+) - Perth
DESCRIPTION:Expressions of interest now open! \nThe Rural Health West CPD REACT+ workshop is designed to assist Western Australian Visiting Medical Practitioners to maintain their emergency knowledge and skills\, and gain formal assessment towards their emergency credentialing\, as required by WA Country Health Service. Covering medical emergencies\, major trauma and cardiac arrest in adults and children\, and associated lifesaving procedural skills training. REACT+ is a highly interactive workshop. Participants are provided with audiovisual pre-learning materials and the course consists almost entirely of small group practical skills stations and simulated scenarios. \nEligibility:  All medical practitioners are welcome to register with priority given to currently practising rural and remote medical practitioners. \nLength: Two days. 8.00am-5.00pm \nDate: 18th – 19th November 2021 \nCost: $2\,200 (incl GST).\nThe cost of this workshop is subsidised by WA Country Health Service through the Better Medical Care Initiative. \nAccreditation: This workshop has accreditation with The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) and the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM) for continuing professional development points/hours and is approved for the Rural Procedural Grants Program\, Emergency Grant component.  We do ask participants to contact their relevant college to ascertain your eligibility for the grant prior to attending. \nThis education workshop is proudly delivered by Rural Health West in partnership with WA Country Health Service\, through the Better Medical Care Initiative. \nFor more information please contact Rural Health West Continuing Professional Development Coordinator:\n08 6389 4500\ncpd@ruralhealthwest.com.au

DESCRIPTION:Valuable Conversations\nApplying trauma informed care and practice (TICP) and motivational interviewing (MI) to alcohol use during pregnancy\nPresented by Workforce Development\, Mental Health Commission (MHC) \nThe Valuable Conversations training covers the following: \n\nReflective practice to identify areas of practice that require development for improved client\nengagement and outcomes.\n• TICP to consider the broader context in which alcohol use during pregnancy may occur.\n• MI to empathically explore client behaviour aound alcohol use during pregnancy.\n• Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) prevention in the context of the National Strategic\nAction Plan and a holistic prevention framework.\n• Brief Intervention (BI) to combine course content with skills practice using the AUDIT-C and\n‘Five As’.\n• Useful resources for ease in recalling training information and strategies.\n\nThis event does not provide information on FASD diagnosis or treatment.
