SUMMARY:Trauma-Informed Practice Training - Kalgoorlie
DESCRIPTION:Trauma-Informed Practice Training with Hope Community Services. \nThe experience of trauma can have a ripple effect throughout a person’s lifetime. It can influence the way they think\, work\, form relationships and the choices they make – years after the traumatic incident. It will assist participants to better understand the trauma experience and equip them to provide more appropriate and empathetic services.\nTopics include: \n• The nature of trauma\n• Critical incidents\n• ASD and PTSD\n• Recognising symptoms\n• Complex vs single-incident trauma\n• Avoiding re-traumatisation\n• Understanding adaptive symptoms\n• Working with trauma (Principles\, Screening\, Treatments\, Care) \nDate : Friday 9th February 2024\nTime: 9:30am – 4pm\nTopic: Trauma Informed Practice\nLocation: Goldfields Arts Centre: 35 Cheetham St\, Kalgoorlie WA \nIf you would like to attended this training\, please register by COB Monday 5 February 2023 through email or register here. \n

SUMMARY:Short Mental Health Interventions: Reflective Writing for Clinician Wellbeing | Webinar
DESCRIPTION:Program Outline\nJoining Dr Jan Orman for this session is an extremely well-known GP with a gift for writing and a passion for teaching. Dr Hilton Koppe has used reflective writing for decades as a personal wellbeing strategy and has become celebrated for the writing workshops he presents to health professionals both in Australia and abroad. Hilton will talk about how he has benefited from his writing practice and what we can do to help set up such a practice for ourselves. \nMental health is the number one reason people see their GPs*\, yet GPs are time poor and wait times to see psychologists are long. The need for mental health care is growing faster than specialised support and services are\, leaving a gap in patient care. \nThis webinar series aims to provide GPs and other health professionals with skills to ‘fill the gap’ in providing mental health care to their patients using a range of brief interventions. Each webinar will be a discussion about the specific intervention and tips on how to use it effectively with your patients. \n*General Practice Health of the Nation report\, RACGP\, 2021\nFacilitator:\nDr Jan Orman \nGuest\nDr Hilton Koppe \nAccreditation\nCertificates provided on completion for professionals to claim CPD points \nSuitable for\nAllied Health\, Counsellors\, GP Registrars\, GPs\nLearning Objectives\nBy the end of the webinar participants will:\nUnderstand the role reflective writing can play in supporting clinician wellbeing.\nBe able to begin a reflective writing practice using some of the techniques discussed.
