SUMMARY:Red Dust Healing - Laverton
DESCRIPTION:What is Red Dust Healing? \nRed Dust Healing is based on a cultural belief that we are one people\, one mob who do not own but belong to this land. If we do not know who we are and where we come from\, then how to we know where we are going?\nThe Red Dust Healing programs and workshops are designed to address a wide range of issues including suicide safeguarding\, stolen generations\, incarceration\, juvenile justice \, grief and \,loss\, family and domestic violence\, anxiety and fear\, depression\, mental health and substance abuse. \nThe programs and workshops target the heart and not the head\, empowering people to be part of their own solutions. Healing to us is a spiritual understand of self\, identity\, belonging\, family. security\, hurt\, heartache\, good times\, and laughter. But mostly Healing is a grasp for hope and acceptance based on love and respect\, of understanding of ourselves\, our supports and being able to tell ‘out stories’. \nOver 18500 people have officially completed different stages of the program plus more than 3000 through information sessions and 1 day workshops. These numbers continue to rise as more and more people engage and spread the work about Red Dust healing. \nDate: Monday the 8th of April 2024\nVenue: 9 MacPherson Place- Town Hall\nTime: 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM\nCost: Free includes resources\, lunch and afternoon tea provided.\nRegister: Hannah.Matanda@hopecs.org.au or https://form.jotform.com/230287846357870 \nRed Dust Healing Flyer Laverton 8 April 2024

SUMMARY:Allied Health Breakfast Series - Kalgoorlie
DESCRIPTION:The GOHPN is excited to release the next installment of our Allied Health Breakfast\, with local Occupational Therapist\,  Monique Loos from Spot On Therapy. \nThe purpose of this event is to bring together local allied health professionals and foster a stronger and more cohesive community. \nThis month we have local Occupational Therapist\, Monique Loos. \n“FASD – Fetal Alcoholic Spectrum Disorder” \nFetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD) refers to the range of problems caused by prenatal exposure to alcohol (exposure to alcohol during pregnancy). \nWe will be talking about the effects of alcohol on a fetus and how Occupational Therapists assist in terms of intervention\, referral processes\, assisting with accessing the NDIS\, what facial characteristics and the symptoms impact on overall developmental skills when a child is referred. It is very common for a child with FASD to be overlooked and possibly diagnosed misdiagnosed or not diagnosed at all.\nWe will relate all of the above to the following factors associated with FASD\n• harm to the development of the fetal nervous system\, including the brain\n• under-nourishment of the growing baby\n• in some cases\, triggering changes in the development of the baby’s face\, resulting in certain facial features. \nIn addition to Monique’s presentation\, we have set aside time for networking and open discussions. We encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity to connect with your fellow allied health professionals\, exchange ideas\, and collaborate on future projects. \nDate: 18th April 2024\nTime: 7.15am – 8.15am\nLocation: Rural Clinical School\, Kalgoorlie (on the hospital campus) \nRegistrations are limited and essential\, so please register to hayley.selleck@gohpn.com.au to confirm your spot and to advise any dietary guidelines.
