DESCRIPTION:Description\nSuicide has a devastating impact on families\, friends and whole communities. Pharmacists\, due to their role and their accessibility\nin the community\, have the potential to play a key role in recognising the signs and symptoms of suicide\, restricting means\nand keeping the person safe until support is available.This Suicide Prevention Training for Pharmacists is an interactive\,\ncased based workshop enabling peer discussion alongside the\ndevelopment of practical skills to implement.\nThis training aims to increase pharmacists’ skills and confidence in:\n• Recognising signs warranting further exploration for suicidality;\n• Talking with someone who may display suicidal signs and symptoms;\n• Understanding of the various referral options. \nLearning Outcomes\nThe proposed learning objectives for the session are that at the end\nof the session participants will be able to:\n• Recognise the prevalence of suicide in the context of pharmacy\n• Identify risk factors and warning sign of someone that may have\nsuicidal thoughts\n• Prepare for a conversation with someone who may display suicidal\nsigns and symptoms \nTopic 1: Prevalence of Suicide\nTopic 2: Risk factors\, warning sign and symptoms\nTopic 3: Having conversations about -suicide\nTopic 4: Support and resources \nAccreditation\nAccreditation number: CX22054.\nThis activity has been accredited for 2.5 hours of Group 1 CPD (or\n2.5 CPD credits)\, suitable for inclusion in an individual pharmacist’s\nCPD plan\, which can be converted 2.5 hours of Group 2 CPD (5 CPD\ncredits) upon successful completion of relevant assessment \nWAPHA – SPTP online – 07.09.24
