SUMMARY:Hepatitis C Facilitated Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Hepatitis C\, once believed to be a chronic\, incurable illness\, it now curable in almost all cases in as little as 12 weeks. Yet\, despite thousands of Australians now cured of hepatitis\, almost 170\,000 people are still believed to be living with chronic hepatitis C\, many unknowingly. New treatments\, with fewer side effects\, easier dosing regimens and better efficacy than older treatments have made curing hepatitis C easier than ever. \nThis workshop will update pharmacists on advancements in hepatitis C treatment with direct-acting antivirals (DAAs)\, and the role that pharmacists play in assisting patients with initiating and continuing therapy until disease resolution. Pharmacists will discuss case studies in small groups and will be provided with suggested pre-reading materials.

DESCRIPTION:Arthritis & Osteoporosis WA invites GPs and Health Professionals to a clinical update on\nInflammatory Arthritis presented by Prof Johannes Nossent\, Consultant Rheumatologist. \nLearning Outcomes:\n1. Outline the prevalence of inflammatory arthritis (IA) and recognise its impact at an individual and societal level.\n2. Identify appropriate diagnostic and monitoring tools for IA and determine when rheumatology specialist opinion is required. 3. Identify the modifiable and non-modifiable risk factors associated with IA. 4. Differentiate the categories of medications used in the treatment of IA.\n5. Describe common side effects\, and evaluate the efficacy and safety of various treatments\, including corticosteroids\, DMARDs and bDMARDs.\nAbout the Presenter: Prof Johannes (Hans) Nossent is Winthrop Professor of Rheumatology at the University of Western Australia and the Head of Rheumatology at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital.
