Psychometric assessment encompasses everything from neuropsychological testing to self-report questionnaires like the K10. Clinical Psychologist Dr Peter Baldwin will take you through how self-report questionnaires work\, how to choose a questionnaire\, and how to quickly and effectively interpret the scores. He will also bust some common myths about mental health questionnaires and share insights from his research and clinical practice. \nPeter will be joined by Dale Skinner\, who lives with bipolar II. Dale is determined to provide a better understanding of mood disorders and in this webinar will share his own experience of navigating self-report questionnaires. \nDr Peter Baldwin is an academic clinical psychologist with a background in developing technology-led models of mental health care. DESCRIPTION:Be skilled to improve ear health in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Communities \n*While the online training and the practical skills workshops are free\, participants may incur travel\, accommodation and other costs associated with attending a practical skills workshop. \nAbout the EarTrain program\nEarTrain is a fully funded* online training program for primary health care professionals to identify and manage otitis media and other hearing conditions in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.\nThe program is delivered across Australia by TAFE NSW and is funded by the Australian Government.\nEarTrain is a Closing the Gap initiative available until 30 June 2024. \nPractical Skills Workshop \nEarTrain and the Aboriginal Health Council of Western Australia (AHCWA) are running a series of 1-day workshops to provide practical skills in: * Tympanometry (under 6 months of age) * Screening Otoacoustic Emissions * Referral Pathways.\nYou will gain practical experience and confidence in carrying out these skills under the guidance of experienced audiologists\, with ongoing support after you’ve completed the workshop. DESCRIPTION:The Rural Health West CPD REACT+ workshop is designed to assist Western Australian Visiting Medical Practitioners to maintain their emergency knowledge and skills\, and gain formal assessment towards their emergency credentialing\, as required by WA Country Health Service. Covering medical emergencies\, major trauma and cardiac arrest in adults and children\, and associated lifesaving procedural skills training\, REACT+ is a highly interactive workshop. DESCRIPTION:The GOHPN is excited to release the next installment of our Allied Health Breakfast\, with local Occupational Therapist\,  Monique Loos from Spot On Therapy. \nThe purpose of this event is to bring together local allied health professionals and foster a stronger and more cohesive community. \nThis month we have local Occupational Therapist\, Monique Loos. \n“FASD – Fetal Alcoholic Spectrum Disorder” \nFetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD) refers to the range of problems caused by prenatal exposure to alcohol (exposure to alcohol during pregnancy). \nWe will be talking about the effects of alcohol on a fetus and how Occupational Therapists assist in terms of intervention\, referral processes\, assisting with accessing the NDIS\, what facial characteristics and the symptoms impact on overall developmental skills when a child is referred. It is very common for a child with FASD to be overlooked and possibly diagnosed misdiagnosed or not diagnosed at all.\nWe will relate all of the above to the following factors associated with FASD\n• harm to the development of the fetal nervous system\, including the brain\n• under-nourishment of the growing baby\n• in some cases\, triggering changes in the development of the baby’s face\, resulting in certain facial features. \nIn addition to Monique’s presentation\, we have set aside time for networking and open discussions.
