SUMMARY:Telehealth Clinical Skills Program
DESCRIPTION:Designed by doctors for doctors\, the ACRRM Telehealth Clinical Skills Program aims to provide education and coaching on how best to conduct telehealth consultations in a variety of clinical settings. \nThe program offers an online education module of 4.5 hours CPD which you can do in your own time. It includes practical tips and guidance on how telehealth consultations should be introduced and managed in your practice. Importantly\, the module covers the clinical skills required to assess\, diagnose and manage your patients using phone or video consultations across a variety of different platforms. \nThe program also includes a live online workshop with two ACRRM medical educators experienced in using telehealth in their practice. Cases will be discussed giving you the opportunity to apply your knowledge and skills in this peer group setting. \nThe College is offering 10 dates for the 90-minute workshop and each workshop is limited to 20 people. \nOur telehealth workshops are designed to cater to participants with varying levels of experience. Workshops 4\, 8\, and 9 are specifically tailored to users with a higher level of telehealth experience. These workshops will cover advanced skills and address complex questions\, while the other workshops are intended for those with comparatively less experience and who require more training. SUMMARY:Workshop: Neonatal Advanced Resuscitation and Stabilisation (NARS)
DESCRIPTION:This comprehensive two-day workshop is for medical practitioners\, GP obstetricians\, midwives and other health professionals seeking additional skills\, knowledge and experience in caring for the newborn who is born early or in poor condition\, and requires special and/or intensive care. \nThis engaging course is primarily delivered through skills work stations\, case studies and simulations.  You will have the opportunity to learn important practical skills including: \n\nEndotracheal intubation\nLaryngeal mask airway\nChest needling and intercostal catheter insertion\nEmergency access (including umbilical vein catheterisation and intraosseous insertion)\n\nWe will run simulations of common neonatal scenarios where you learn essential skills in: \n\nCommunication\nCrisis resource management\nAdvanced resuscitation\nPost resuscitation care and stabilisation prior to transport\n\nThis workshop aims to give you the confidence to deliver the highest level of care possible and help you overcome some of the challenges faced in resource-limited settings. \nEligibility: GP obstetricians\, medical practitioners and midwives.  Priority is given to those working in the local region. \nLength: Two Days – 8:00am-4:30pm \nCost:\nMidwives – $480 for both days (including GST)\nGP/GP obstetrician – $720 for both days (including GST)\nThe cost of this workshop is subsidised by the Australian Government Department of Health \nAccreditation: This workshop is pending accreditation with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine for continuing professional development hours for the 2023-2025 triennium. \nThis Rural Health West education workshop is proudly funded by the Australian Government Department of Health  \nExpressions of Interest here

DESCRIPTION:Unintentional poisoning is one of the leading causes of injuries in WA\, accounting for 179 deaths in 2021. Injury Matters is hosting this hybrid seminar where we will hear from Louise Edwards from the Poisons Information Centre to learn more about poisoning prevention strategies to enable health professionals to promote and support effective health education. The seminar will also: \n\nDescribe the mechanism of poisoning that is included in data collection.\nDescribe the types of substances that commonly cause poisoning and identify the populations at the highest risk for poisoning incidents in Western Australia.\nExplain the role and services provided by the Poisons Information Centre in Western Australia\, including how to access their services.\nIdentify best practices and effective strategies for preventing poisoning incidents\, including storage and disposal of hazardous substances\, safe medication use\, and the promotion of poison prevention education.\nDiscuss the importance of collaboration between health professionals\, community organisations\, and other stakeholders in developing and implementing effective poisoning prevention programs in Western Australia.\n\nThis training aims to: \n\nIncrease knowledge of the mechanisms of poisoning\nIncrease awareness of the types of substances that commonly cause poisoning.\nIncrease skills in referring to appropriate services such as PIC\nIncreased confidence in implementing effective poisons prevention strategies.\n\nWho should attend? \nThis seminar training is suitable for alcohol and other drug health professionals\, mental health workers\, nurses\, pharmacists\, public health advocates\, health promotion professionals\, health services\, and local government.

DESCRIPTION:Attend this webinar to enhance your ability to support people with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) to participate in meaningful work that promotes their mental health and wellbeing. \nThe panel will discuss the case study of a person who is experiencing PTSD as the result of a workplace accident.Meet the Panel \nDr. Craig Barnett a GP based in Newcastle and has over 20 years’ experience in both General Practice and Occupational Health with a special interest in injury management\, workplace health including hazardous substances\, psychological injuries & medical computing. \nDr. Tony McHugh is a senior fellow in Melbourne University’s Psychiatry Department. He was for two decades the principal psychologist and manager of Austin Health’s trauma-related mental health (TRMH) services. \nChristie Stonham performs the role of Manager of SHIELD Strategy and Capability for the Australian Federal Police (AFP). In this capacity\, she is responsible for delivering elements of SHIELD\, the AFP’s health service delivery model\, in close partnership with the Chief Medical Officer and Manager SHIELD Service Delivery. \nFacilitator: Professor Stephen Trumble is a general practitioner and Head of Medical Education at Melbourne Medical School. \nLearning Outcomes: \nThrough a panellist exploration of PTSD and work participation\, this webinar will provide participants with the skills and knowledge to: \nIdentify the challenges for PTSD patients engaging with and participating in the workplace\, including phobic avoidance\, anxiety symptoms and co-morbid conditions.\nDiscuss practitioner challenges in helping PTSD patients to leverage the health benefits of good work\, including how to constructively engage with the workplace and other stakeholders.\nDiscuss the risks and opportunities for patients/clients with PTSD participating in work.\nRecommend ways to manage safe and sustainable work participation for patients with PTSD\, including the options and resources available to support work participation
