DESCRIPTION:The first part of developing a cultural competency is to understand our own culture and how that influences how we see and experience the world. This workshop is an opportunity for self-reflection and learning in an environment that is safe and supportive and gives participants the chance to challenge themselves. \nWe need to understand why we see the world as we do\, and why others don’t always see it in the same way. \nThis workshop will explore the concept of cultural lens\, understanding bias and stereotypes\, and promoting cultural competence and inclusivity. It incorporates a variety of interactive activities\, discussions\, and reflections to engage participants and facilitate learning and dialogue. \nWHEN: Thursday 27 February 2025 | 5.30pm – 7.30pm AWST \nLearning Objectives: \nTo explore the concept of cultural lens and its impact on perceptions\, attitudes\, and behaviours.\nTo understand biases and stereotyping.\nTo promote awareness\, empathy\, and inclusivity \nThe workshop is interactive and facilitated by Tania Harris\, HCC’s Engagement Manager and Aboriginal Lead. \nREGISTER HERE.
